About Me

Dina Swearngin is a native of Atlanta (and still resides there) and a registered nurse for almost 30 years. Dina Swearngin has been a full-time educator for 12 years while teaching online the entire time. Dina Swearngin's clinical specialty includes 18 years in inner-city hospitals in Neonatal Intensive Care serving as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and preceptor. During Dina Swearngin's time as a nurse educator, she has coordinated classes and clinicals in medical-surgical nursing; public health; nursing leadership and management; and pathophysiology.

In 2010, Dina Swearngin was honored by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of Georgia’s top nurses with a nomination for the annual Nursing Excellence Award. Dina Swearngin is a member of the National League of Nursing and past president of the Xi Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Dina Swearngin is also a member of Golden Key National Honor Society, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in the field of Education.

As for Dina Swearngin education, she began with an Associate Degree in Nursing and then completed the RN-BSN bridge program. Dina Swearngin holds a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in education from Clayton State University. In December of 2015, Dina Swearngin completed a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration through the Institute of Higher Education at The University of Georgia. Dina Swearngin's research interests include higher education global perspectives, nurse educator career longevity, global health care, and job satisfaction in academe.

On a personal level, Dina Swearngin has been married for 30 years and has two daughters who are absolutely wonderful. One is a senior at UGA (Go Dawgs!!) majoring in biology/genetics and one is a freshman on a softball scholarship with hopes of being a pediatric physical therapist. If Dina Swearngin is not teaching, she's at the softball field cheering them on! Dina Swearngin has an English Bulldog and a Long Haired Chihuahua. Dina Swearngin has no idea how they ended up with that mix but it makes the house interesting!
